The Energy Fitness
program is administered by Richard Heath & Associates,
Inc. You can find out more about Richard Heath & Associates here.
In 2004 Richard Heath & Associates,
Inc. received an additional $2 million grant from the California
Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to continue the Energy Fitness
Program through the end of December 2005. This program also included
performing A/C tune ups on 100 units as part of a pilot
program to see if the tune up would be cost effective.
Richard Heath & Associates applied for the grant from
the CPUC to continue assisting businesses with their energy needs
in 2004-2005. Due to the success of the 2002-2004 Energy Fitness
Program, the CPUC agreed to fund the program for two more years
meaning that 1400 more businesses could receive these energy
saving services.
While the territory and the type of businesses will remain the
same (PG&E customers whose electrical demand is less than
100 kw in the Northern Sacramento Valley and foothills) the Energy
Fitness Program will focus its business enrollment efforts in
the
Northern Sacramento Valley area. All services are provided at
no cost to the business.
In 2002 Richard Heath & Associates,
Inc. was awarded a $2 million dollar grant to run a pilot program
to provide free lighting retrofits, compact fluorescent lights,
vending misers, occupancy sensors, and energy audits on 1000
small and very small businesses in towns north of Sacramento.
This was a direct install program with no utility rebates.
The Energy Fitness Program is funded through the "public benefits
charges" placed on utility bills by the CPUC. The initial Energy
Fitness Program was funded to run through the end of December 2003
but actually ran through to March 2004 and provided energy services
to 1,170 small and very small businesses in the northern Sacramento
Valley. All lighting retrofit work performed is completely free of
charge to the business receiving the program and there is a one year
warranty on all lamps and ballasts installed.
